Weather Highlights

    1.    Rain today (southwest counties)
    2.    Rain ends tonight.  Cool.
    3.    A mild week ahead with above average temperatures.
    4.    Cold front arrives Thursday PM into Friday with showers and perhaps thunderstorms.
    5.    I continue to watch mid to late February for colder air.

Weather advice:

Make sure you have three to five ways of receiving your severe weather information.

Forecast Discussion

Happy Sunday, everyone.  I hope you are having a nice weekend.

We have widespread rain across out western southwestern counties.  That rain is not moving east northeast.  It is moving northwest.

7 AM radars

That rain will continue into this afternoon.  It won’t spread east.  The bulk of the region will remain dry.  Our far western and southwestern counties will have a gloomy cloudy rainy day.

The rain will come to an end tonight with just a few remaining showers.

The rest of the region will have some clouds today.  We are close enough to the system to have widespread clouds.

The weather will be calm tonight through Thursday morning.

A warming trend as we move through the week.  Mild for February.

Gusty winds will develop Thursday into Friday night.  That will be in advance of our next storm system that will bring showers and perhaps thunderstorms to the region late Thursday into Friday.

Winds will gust above 25 mph Thursday into Friday night.

See the future-cast radars below.  Rain will overspread the region Thursday night.  The showers and perhaps thunderstorms will continue into Friday.

For now, I do not have severe weather in the forecast.  We do need to monitor it.  I can’t completely rule out a few strong storms.  A bit early to know.

Well above average temperatures ahead of that cold front.

These three graphics show you how many degrees above average.

Average highs for this time of the year are around 48 degrees.

Average lows are in the upper 20s.

Thursday

Friday

Saturday

I am watching another system next Monday and Tuesday.  Some of the models show snow.  Some show a little rain.

The EC model is a snowstorm.

The GFS model shows scattered rain showers.

The Canadian model is a snowstorm to our north.  Rain locally.

We will just need to monitor trends in the guidance.  It is too early to know how this will unfold.

I continue to watch colder air mid to late February.  A couple of shots of colder air.
