A Big Change in Temperatures!
🥶 Much colder today!
A strong cold front is moving through our region this morning, bringing a dramatic temperature drop.
High temperatures today will be 25 to 35 degrees colder than yesterday! Many areas will struggle to reach 60 degrees.
It will also be windy. Gusts of 30 to 35 mph are possible behind the cold front early this morning. Winds should gradually decrease, but it will remain breezy throughout the day.
A few showers are possible early this morning. Otherwise, expect plenty of clouds.
🍂 Saturday will remain chilly and breezy.
Northwest winds will continue Saturday, keeping temperatures on the cool side.
The bigger story arrives Saturday night.
🍂 Frost and freezing temperatures are possible Saturday night into Sunday morning!

This could be our first widespread frost of the autumn season.
Overnight temperatures will drop into the 30s across much of the region.
Frost appears likely in many areas. Some locations in southern Illinois and southwest Indiana could even drop to 32 degrees or colder.
If you have sensitive outdoor plants, you may want to take steps to protect them before Saturday night.
A Frost Advisory may be issued for portions or all of our region.
☀️ Warmer weather returns next week!
Sunday marks the start of a warming trend.
Temperatures will gradually climb back to more typical October levels by the middle of next week.
Here’s what to expect next week:
-
☀️ Plenty of sunshine and dry weather.
-
🌡️ Afternoon highs climbing into the middle 70s.
-
🍂 Cool nights with lows generally in the middle 40s.
-
💨 Lower humidity and comfortable afternoon temperatures.
-
🌧️ No significant rain chances in the forecast.
Bottom line: A big blast of chilly autumn air arrives today and lasts through the weekend. Watch for frost and possibly freezing temperatures Saturday night. After that, we can look forward to a stretch of beautiful autumn weather next week, with mild afternoons and cool nights.
