Today through February 28th. Severe weather is not anticipated.
.
Today’s outlook (below).
Light green is where thunderstorms may occur but should be below severe levels.
Dark green is a level one risk. Yellow is a level two risk. Orange is a level three (enhanced) risk. Red is a level four (moderate) risk. Pink is a level five (high) risk.
One is the lowest risk. Five is the highest risk.
A severe storm is one that produces 58 mph wind or higher, quarter size hail, and/or a tornado.
The tan states are simply a region that SPC outlined on this particular map. Just ignore that.
The black outline is our local area.

Weather advice:
Monitor for the chance of fog over the coming days. Warmer air moving over cold ground conditions can produce dense fog.
Snow will melt. Rivers and streams may rise.
In the longer range, we will need to monitor any heavy rain chances. We don’t want river flooding.
.
Weather Discussion
-
- A calmer weather pattern than the last three weeks.
- Warming trend will help melt the snow and ice.
- Patchy dense fog.
- Watching the weekend into next week for a more active weather pattern.
.
It will be dry today through Wednesday afternoon. No major weather concerns. Perhaps some fog.
Another fast moving cold front will push across the region Wednesday night. A few showers may accompany this front. Again, rain will be light, if anything at all. Most models are dry. I stuck in a 20% chance of a shower. That might be generous.
Slightly cooler Thursday and Friday behind that front.
I am watching the weekend into early next week for additional rain chances. Sunday, as well.
Models are trending upward with rain chances Friday and Friday night. Something to watch. Some models begin this as snow changing to rain. For now, I have rain in the forecast. Monitor.
The models are leaning more towards Saturday night and Sunday vs Saturday. There have been swings in the models. Thus, confidence is lower than normal. We still have several days to monitor that frontal boundary and area of low pressure.
The EC model ensembles are quite wet in the short to long range. Tennessee Valley flooding might be a concern. Something to watch.
EC model opinion’s on rain totals through March 8th.

Again, as a reminder, these are models. They are never 100% accurate. Take the general idea from them.
What should I take from these?
- The general idea and not specifics. Models usually do well with the generalities.
- The time-stamp is located in the upper left corner.
- The EC European weather model is in Zulu time.
.
What am I looking at?
You are looking at different models. Meteorologists use many different models to forecast the weather. All models are wrong. Some are more wrong than others. Meteorologists have to make a forecast based on the guidance/models.
I show you these so you can see what the different models are showing as far as precipitation. If most of the models agree, then the confidence in the final weather forecast increases.
You can see my final forecast at the top of the page.
