Fire Weather Discussion
Mainly dry weather conditions will prevail through Saturday as a ridge of high pressure will be in control. Fire weather will be elevated today due to low RH values. However, an increase in moisture begins to arrive on Friday with rain chances increasing by the end of the weekend. Friday will be the better of the two days for dispersion due to light winds today.
A Haines Index of 6 means a high potential for an existing fire to become large or exhibit erratic fire behavior, 5 means medium potential, 4 means low potential, and anything less than 4 means very low potential.

Beau’s Forecast Discussion
I hope everyone is enjoying the nice weather. Yes, it is warm. Warmer than is should be for this time of the year. We are averaging 3 to 6 degrees above seasonal averages.
A bit warm for this time of the year.
The region has experienced mostly sunshine over the last couple of days. Satellite has showed a few clouds here and there. Overall, nice weather.
Watch for patchy fog at night. The fog could briefly be dense in a few areas.
The nice weather will continue into the weekend.
I am watching the chance of a few clouds tomorrow and Saturday. Perhaps a light shower in isolated areas. Most areas will remain dry.
I expect a few more clouds as we push into the weekend. Then, increasing clouds as we move through the weekend.
Clouds will increase from the west.
This will be in response to several disturbances to our west and north. They will brush our region. I have low-end shower and thunderstorm chances for portions of the area Saturday into Sunday. See the forecast at the top of the page.
This will mainly be across southeast Missouri and southern Illinois. There remain questions about how far east these disturbances will push.
I may need to update the rain probabilities.
The chance of a few showers and storms will continue into early next week. Mostly in the 20% to 30% range. Whether we see some higher probabilities will need to be monitored.
A cold front will push into the region early next week. It will be somewhat cooler behind the front. It will be a bit less humid behind the front, as well.
Perhaps a bit more seasonal as we move through next week. Some days may only top out in the 70s for daytime highs. Lows will hover in the 50s and 60s. No extremes.
I am monitoring the Gulf of Mexico for a possible tropical storm or hurricane next week. It is too early to know if this will materialize and its strength. Monitor updates.
The GFS shows a major hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico next week. I will be watching.
The Gulf of Mexico waters are very warm. That is a big concern.
The National Hurricane Center is now saying that development is possible, as well.
