- Several days of nice weather.
- Monitoring several disturbances this week that could bring a few showers to the region.
Weather advice:
Make sure you have three to five ways of receiving your severe weather information.
.
Forecast Discussion
Good day, everyone
We could use some moisture.
These two graphics show you the top soil moisture and sub-soil. Both are quite dry. Fire seasons is approaching.
and
We do have some low-end rain chances over the coming days, but a widespread heavy event is not showing up in the charts, yet.
I am closely watching Saturday night into Monday. A disturbance to our west could enhance the shower and thunderstorm coverage.
The long range outlook indicates a possible pattern shift around the middle of October.
The green color is above average precipitation. Don’t focus on the specifics on the graphic. Focus on the idea. A pattern shift will likely occur around the second week of October into the end of October.
That would mean increasing chances of showers and thunderstorms.
For now, however, I only have low end rain chances for this week. If you need rain, then I would focus on the Saturday night into Monday time-frame.
It is during this time that the weather features come together to bring increasing coverage of precipitation.
At this time, the threat of severe weather appears minimal.
We will have some severe weather chances today into Friday to our west northwest. But, outside of my forecast zones.
Temperatures will slowly increase this week. Moving from the 70s solidly into the 80s. It will be a little more humid as we move through the week, as well.
Nothing extreme, but you may notice the difference.
That will occur as winds become southerly. Bringing Gulf of Mexico moisture northward.
As a reminder, our second “seasonal tornado peak” is upon us. Typically, OCT & NOV delivers volatile weather to our region. Tornadoes are common during the autumn months. As a matter of fact, some of our deadliest tornadoes occur during the autumn & winter months.
What can you do to prepare?
1. Make sure you are using the Beau Dodson weathertalk.com app.
2. Make sure you have THREE TO FIVE ways of receiving your severe weather information. Do not depend on just one or two.
3. Check your favorite LOCAL weather sources on a regular basis. We are always on top of the situation. We will let you know when severe weather is expected.
4. Have a severe weather safety plan for you and your family (make sure kids know what to do when they are home alone)
5. Teach your kids where they live on the local radar map. Ask them, during the weather broadcast, to point out where they live.

Again, as a reminder, these are models. They are never 100% accurate. Take the general idea from them.
What should I take from these?
- The general idea and not specifics. Models usually do well with the generalities.
- The time-stamp is located in the upper left corner.
