Forecast Discussion
I hope everyone had a nice weekend.
There were some rain showers Saturday and Sunday (esp during the morning hours). Rain totals of a trace to 0.10″ were reported. Not much.
There were even some reports of small hail over portions of western Kentucky.
Many areas could use a little rain. We are entering fire seasons, thus we need moisture.
At the same time, farmers are getting into their fields, as well. They need some dry weather.
The weather will be quiet today and tomorrow. No concerns.
Models are having a fit about rain Wednesday into the weekend. Some are showing widespread rain. Some are showing no rain.
The truth is likely somewhere in the middle.
I will need to keep the forecast updated as we move through the week. A few showers can’t be ruled out. Especially over southeast Missouri.
I am watching a somewhat more organized system towards the weekend. For now, the focus is on Saturday afternoon into Sunday night. I suspect we will have at least some scattered showers in the region. Plan accordingly.
As a reminder, our second “seasonal tornado peak” is upon us. Typically, OCT & NOV delivers volatile weather to our region. Tornadoes are common during the autumn months. As a matter of fact, some of our deadliest tornadoes occur during the autumn & winter months.

Light green is where thunderstorms may occur but should be below severe levels.
Dark green is a level one risk. Yellow is a level two risk. Orange is a level three (enhanced) risk. Red is a level four (moderate) risk. Pink is a level five (high) risk.
One is the lowest risk. Five is the highest risk.
A severe storm is one that produces 58 mph wind or higher, quarter size hail, and/or a tornado.
