Weather Discussion
Today will start out on the nice side. Some patchy fog is scattered around the area.
Clouds will begin to thicken from southeast to northwest today as an area of low pressure develops. This system is approaching from Tennessee.
See the future-cast radars further down in the blog. They all have the same general idea as far as timing and placement of showers and thunderstorms.
Clouds will thicken and rain showers will develop by the mid to late afternoon hours over western Tennessee and western Kentucky. They will then spread north northwest across the region tonight.
Widespread showers and some embedded thunderstorms will occur tonight into Wednesday afternoon. Locally heavy rain will be possible with some locations topping an inch.
Activity will likely be a bit more scattered during Wednesday afternoon vs tonight/tomorrow morning. Any breaks in the clouds will help in heating. Thus, several thunderstorms are likely in the warm sector. We do not have strong wind fields. Thus, the threat of severe weather will be lower than average.
Shower and thunderstorm activity will become more scattered in nature Wednesday night and Thursday with low-end precipitation chances continuing into Friday. For the most part, Friday will be dry with only isolated showers in the region (if any at all).
Friday night through Sunday will be nice. Warmer. Highs will be well above average with 80s likely Saturday and Sunday. An isolated shower or thunderstorm will be possible Sunday afternoon. For now, this does not appear to be a big deal and I would not change any outdoor plans.
I am watching a possible cold front next Monday with some showers and thunderstorms. For now, confidence in that is low.
In the long range, I am watching a strong cold front around October 12th through the 14th. Models are showing a deep area of low pressure to our north with heavy snow and wind. In our region, this might be some thunderstorms. Still early for confidence levels to be all that great. Let’s keep an eye on it.
