- Warm weather. Well above average temperatures for several days.
- Monitoring mid to late week rain chances.
- Monitoring a strong cold front around Halloween.
Weather advice:
Make sure you have three to five ways of receiving your severe weather information.
.Forecast Discussion
Well, it has been quite the autumn weekend.
Check out yesterday’s temperatures. Just wow. Upper 80s in some locations!
3:30 PM Saturday temperatures.
We will have a cooler day for your Sunday. Highs will mostly top out in the 60s. Not too bad for late October.
Monday through Friday will turn warmer. As a matter of fact, several of those days will likely see temperatures reach into the upper 70s and lower 80!
Our pattern becomes unsettled this week, as well.
It is difficult to zero in on an exact 12-hour period where rain chances reach or exceed 40%. For now, I have that as Thursday and Thursday night.
Adjustments are certainly possible as confidence in the final forecast increases.
This is a messy series of disturbances. Each will bring clouds and shower chances. Gusty winds, as well. Winds Wednesday into Friday will range from 15 to 30 mph. Gusty.
I will be fine tuning the rain forecast over the coming days.
For now, if you have outdoor plans Wednesday through early next week, then you will want to check back for the latest forecast.
I continue to watch a stronger system around Halloween. Whether that system brings rain right before Halloween or on Halloween remains a question. I will be monitoring trends.
The GFS model shows rain October 30th and 31st. Heavy wind driven snow well to our north.
The GFS model would imply some threat of thunderstorms, as well. Again, long way off. Confidence in the details remains low.
The coldest air of the season is likely to push into our region behind that front. That could mean a chance of widespread frost (if winds die down). Not quite sure about a freeze. Models are cold in the long range, but sometimes they overreach. Again, I will be monitoring trends.
We have been watching the Halloween system for three weeks.
The seasons first winter storm is likely across the northern US this week. Just a sign of the seasons changing.

What should I take from these?
- The general idea and not specifics. Models usually do well with the generalities.
