Weather Highlights

    1.   Well above average temperatures.  Mild November weather!
    2.   Rain chances ramp up Thursday into Thursday night.  The front has slowed.
    3.   Rain totals 0f 0.40″ to 0.80″ likely.

Weather advice:

Make sure you have three to five ways of receiving your severe weather information.

.Forecast Discussion

Several nice days of weather!

Okay, who ordered the warm weather.  Fess up!

After a solid week of cold weather (but a distant memory) we are about to experience WELL above average temperatures.

Some reporting stations may hit record highs today into Wednesday.

Today’s temperatures

As a matter of fact, we have actually increased Wednesday’s high temperatures into the lower 80s!  Yes.  Lower 80s.  A bit on the crazy side.

Typically, when it is THAT warm during the autumn months, we worry about severe weather and tornadoes.  Not this week.  So, let’s be thankful for that.

I know some of you would rather experience autumn temperatures, but the weather is what the weather is.  We both know that it will soon change.

I am going to enjoy the ride.

Widespread 70s today and tomorrow.  Then, high temperatures in the 80s Wednesday.  I can’t rule out isolated 80s tomorrow, as well.

Here are the Wednesday high temperature forecast numbers

This map shows you where records may fall Wednesday.  The squares represent potential high temperatures.

Don’t forget to double click images to enlarge them.

Here is the Wednesday afternoon temperature anomaly map.

Temperatures will be 15 to 20+ degrees above seasonal averages.

Winds will be gusty this week.  Mostly in the 10 to 25 mph range.

Peak winds will arrive Wednesday.  I suspect a few locations may peak above the 40 mph mark.  These are gradient winds because of high and low pressure.

COLD FRONT ARRIVES THURSDAY

A cold front, which has slowed down, will arrive Thursday and Thursday night.

At one point, this front was supposed to arrive today and tomorrow.  Then, that become Tuesday night and Wednesday.  Over the last few days, however, the data has slowly come into better agreement.  It will arrive Thursday.

An isolated shower can’t be ruled out Wednesday night, but peak rain chances arrive Thursday. Higher chances during the PM hours vs the AM hours.

An isolated clap of thunder will be possible over the Missouri Bootheel into western Tennessee.  Lightning  appears unlikely north of there.  Isolated if anything at all.

No severe thunderstorms!

Here is the latest rainfall outlook.  A WIDE range north to south.

Rain totals of 0.1 to 0.3 north.  Then, totals of 0.4 to 0.8 south.  Locally higher totals are possible over mainly Kentucky and Tennessee.

Here is the latest WPC rainfall totals forecast.  This has increased some over the past couple of days.

Cooler air will filter into the region Thursday night and Friday.  Chilly temperatures this coming weekend.

A few locations could dip below freezing by Monday morning.  Widespread 30s.

The growing season has ended, thus we won’t have any additional frost or freeze headlines.

It is winter weather preparedness week.

Let’s take a look at frostbite.

We also want to remember this tornado event back in 2005.  Horrible late night tornado event.

The Evansville area tornado.

It claimed 24 lives.
