Today through November 14th: I am monitoring a system next Wednesday into Thursday. It is too soon to know if this system will produce severe thunderstorms. Monitor updates.
.
Today’s outlook (below).
Light green is where thunderstorms may occur but should be below severe levels.
Dark green is a level one risk. Yellow is a level two risk. Orange is a level three (enhanced) risk. Red is a level four (moderate) risk. Pink is a level five (high) risk.
One is the lowest risk. Five is the highest risk.
A severe storm is one that produces 58 mph wind or higher, quarter size hail, and/or a tornado.
The tan states are simply a region that SPC outlined on this particular map. Just ignore that.
The black outline is our local area.

Weather Discussion
-
- Calm weather this week.
- Chilly temperatures will moderate over the coming days.
- Watching a system next week.
Weather advice:
Make sure you are using the Beau Dodson Weather Talk app and not text messages. We can’t rely on Verizon and ATT to send out the text messages in a timely manner. Thus, we made the app. See links at the bottom of the page.

Weather Discussion
Quiet weather will continue into the weekend. This has been a decent stretch of calm weather (esp for autumn).
The only weather to speak of will be frost and freeze chances over the coming nights into the weekend.
I am watching a system towards next Wednesday night/Thursday Long way off and plenty of time to monitor.
Some of the models are showing more than one cold front. Some event show intense thunderstorms and wintry precipitation. It is too early to be predicting whether or not severe weather and/or snow will occur with the cold front and area of low pressure(s). As always, monitor updates moving forward.
As a reminder, models show a lot of things in the long range. They typically do not verify. I would say in an average year the models will show over 100 inches of snow locally. What ends up falling? A few inches. Usually less than 12 inches for an entire winter season.
Models do well in the short range. Days one through five. Anything past day five we usually call that lala land for the models. Meaning, they don’t typically verify all that well.
I will be monitoring next weeks system and will update accordingly. For now, I have rain and thunderstorms in the forecast next Wednesday and Thursday.
.
Click here if you would like to return to the top of the page.
Again, as a reminder, these are models. They are never 100% accurate. Take the general idea from them.
What should I take from these?
- The general idea and not specifics. Models usually do well with the generalities.
- The time-stamp is located in the upper left corner.
- The EC European weather model is in Zulu time.
.
What am I looking at?
You are looking at different models. Meteorologists use many different models to forecast the weather. All models are wrong. Some are more wrong than others. Meteorologists have to make a forecast based on the guidance/models.
I show you these so you can see what the different models are showing as far as precipitation. If most of the models agree, then the confidence in the final weather forecast increases.
You can see my final forecast at the top of the page.
