Weather Highlights

    1.   Rain is moving out.
    2.   Turning colder today.  Patch fog and drizzle.
    3.   Dry Wednesday into Friday night.  Cool temperatures.
    4.   A nice Thanksgiving!
    5.   Monitoring rain chances Saturday night into Sunday.

Weather advice:

Make sure you have three to five ways of receiving your severe weather information.

.Forecast Discussion

Our rain event is pushing out of the region a few hours faster than expected.   That leaves us with cooler air arriving today from west to east.

High temperatures will occur this morning.  Mostly in the 50s.  Temperatures will then fall into the 40s as the day wears on.  There will be gusty northwest winds.  That will make it feel cooler.

Clouds will linger into tonight.  Patchy fog and drizzle will be possible today and tonight, as well.  No snow, sleet, or freezing rain.

Clouds may linger into Wednesday morning, then clearing west to east.  It will be cool Wednesday, but nothing extreme.

A nice Thanksgiving is on tap for the region with widespread 50s.  I do expect partly to mostly sunny sky conditions.  No weather concerns Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday!

Another cold front will push into the region Saturday night and Sunday.  Patchy light rain will accompany the front.  I am monitoring temperatures Saturday night.  I can’t rule out sleet pellets mixing in with the rain.  For now, I do not have any impacts.  Temperatures should stay just above freezing with lows by Sunday morning dipping into the 30s.

Ensembles show patchy rain.  These are six hour rain totals.

The more squares that agree, the higher the confidence in the eventual forecast outcome.  A lot of squares do show at least light rain Saturday night/Sunday.

.

.

No major weather systems in the short-range charts.

Next week is trending cold, but whether we have any precipitation with the cold air is uncertain.  Monitor updates.

Wednesday through Friday will be cool and dry.  Highs in the 40s and 50s Wednesday.  Highs Thursday in the 50s. Highs Friday in the 40s and 50s. Lows Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings will dip into the 20s and 30s.

Some models show a trace of rain Thursday night and Friday.  For now, I have capped rain chances at 10%.  The NWS has them at 20%.  Either way, it won’t amount to anything of significance.

Dry conditions Friday night through Sunday.  No weather concerns.  No snow or ice storms.

What should I take from these?

  1. The general idea and not specifics. Models usually do well with the generalities.
