Short range outlook.
No weather concerns today through Thursday morning.
We do have a southern storm system that occasionally was showing signs of bringing light rain to the region Tuesday and Wednesday.
The trends on that system have been to keep it so far south that we miss out.
We will have an increase in clouds tonight into Wednesday. On and off clouds. Clouds will be a bit thicken across the Bootheel into Kentucky and Tennessee. A bit sunnier north.
Again, that is because it is a Gulf of Mexico system.
You can see it on this chart. The GFS model.
During El Nino years, there will be a lot of systems to our south. Sometimes too far south to impact our region. This will be a theme of the winter. Southern moisture.
A cold front will work through the region late Thursday night into Friday evening. This front will bring increasing chances of clouds Thursday afternoon and night. Lingering into Friday night.
There could even be a few showers over our eastern counties. The trend with this system has been drier. Thus, I have lowered rain chances late in the week. I can’t rule out some light rain, but even the WPC rainfall forecast through Friday night shows little or no measurable precipitation.

I also removed the mention of lightning with that system.
Long Range Outlook
Messy. Active. Complicated.
That sums it up!
I want to talk about Thanksgiving week. It is going to be a tricky forecast with a lot of moving parts.
For now, I have Wednesday and Thursday dry. Partly sunny. Highs in the 50s. Lows in the 30s. Confidence in that forecast is low. I will show you why.
I am watching severeal storm systems.
They are forecast to arrive Sunday into Tuesday night. It may not be just one system. There could be a series of frontal boundaries and areas of low pressure.
The models are struggling to figure out which energy to latch onto.
It appears that rain chances will ramp up at some point Sunday and Sunday night. Then, after that, confidence decreases.
Ensembles are showing the potential for several rounds of showers and perhaps even thunderstorms.
Yes, they occasionally have shown snow, but those are outliers and not the consensus. As always, I will be monitoring each system.
I did include, for now, a 20% chance of rain in the Sunday (day) forecast. I will likely increase those rain chances Sunday night into Monday.
If you have travel plans early next week, then monitor updates. Rain is possible.
The WPC rainfall outlook does include rain. This is for Sunday and Sunday night of next week. Additional rain may fall after that.
For now, I will leave Wednesday and Thanksgiving Day dry, but that could very well need adjusting if some of the models are correct.
For now, I am simply monitoring the data. Models likely will not have a handle on Thanksgiving week until later this week. Then, I suspect we see a bit more agreement among the data sets. Monitor updates.
Let’s look at the probability of one inch of snow (or more) through Thanksgiving night.
Chances are currently very low. But, I will continue to monitor the data in case something changes.
A few models show snow. With that said, the vast majority show no snow!
