We are waking up to cold temperatures. Check out the 6 AM temperature map. Brrrr.
Welcome to the first day of spring!
No significant weather concerns today. We do have a few clouds around this morning, but that will give way to sunshine.
Highs today will rise into the 50s. Not too bad and it is better than the last couple of days.
A series of rain makers will push across our region tomorrow through Friday. Locally heavy rain will occur, as well.
Our first system arrives tomorrow and tomorrow night. Rain showers will develop from west to east. It won’t rain all day or night, but periods of showers.
A small chance of thunder.
This is our first round of rain Tuesday into Wednesday morning. Those lines are isobars. Equal lines of pressure.
Once again, we are going to have some gusty winds in the region this week. Same as recent weeks.
A few showers will remain in the region Wednesday and Wednesday night, but a bit of a lull overall.
Widespread showers and thunderstorms will develop Thursday into Friday. This is when locally heavy rain will occur.
I am forecasting a widespread one to two inches of rain with pockets of two to four inches likely. This could lead to some flooding.
This is the 7 AM Thursday weather map. You can see an area of low pressure developing to our west. This will drag a cold front across our region.
Showers and thunderstorms will develop as warmer and more humid air pushes northward from the Gulf of Mexico.
This system will have copious amounts of moisture to work with. PWAT values will be quite high.
PWAT is a measure of moisture in the atmospheric column.
You can see that stream of Gulf of Mexico moisture on the PWAT animation. Those purple colors are very high PWAT values for this time of the year.
That spells heavy rain.
Rain totals are forecast to rain from one to three inches area-wide by Friday night.

What am I looking at?
You are looking at different models. Meteorologists use many different models to forecast the weather. All models are wrong. Some are more wrong than others. Meteorologists have to make a forecast based on the guidance/models.
I show you these so you can see what the different models are showing as far as precipitation. If most of the models agree, then the confidence in the final weather forecast increases.
