It has been a long seven days of forecasting.
Today’s update will be short. A fairly straight forecast.
Here were the 5 AM temperatures. They will fall several more degrees before the sun rises.

The primary concern will be the cold weather.
Look at how much of the country is under a cold weather warning or advisory! A huge chunk of it.

Some areas will not get above 32 degrees until next week.
Overnight lows will range from -5 to 10 degrees above area-wide.
Cold!
Wind chill values will be lower. At times -15 to 5 above. Frostbite weather.

There have already been some house fires (one deadly).
Make sure you know how to use space heaters properly.
Do not use extension cords with space heaters.
Here are some safety tips.

This weather will be harsh on outdoor pets, birds, livestock, and others.
Throw the birds some seed. That might help them out.
Bring sensitive pets indoors. Some dogs and cats do not do well in these cold temperatures.
Water bowls will freeze quickly. Change their water out.
Maybe leave the cows outside and the horses in the barn. 🙂

Of course, frozen water pipes are a big concern.
Don’t use open flames to thaw water pipes.
Make sure you protect your water pipes. Take the water hoses off the nozzles and cover that nozzle.
Give the plows plenty of room to work on the roads.
If you do not have to travel today, then don’t. Give it a bit more time.
Keep the kids off frozen ponds and lakes.
