There will be a LARGE difference in rain totals with this next precipitation event. Some areas may end up with very little in the way of measurable rainfall.
We are waking up to clouds and patchy fog in the region. Radars are precipitation free.
Today will be dry. Mild temperatures.
A cold front will push into the region tonight. This front will then become the focus for shower and thunderstorm chances.
There is once again going to be a significant difference in rain totals across the region. This time around, the highest totals will be across southeast Missouri. Decreasing totals as you travel northeast.
You can see this displayed on this WPC/NOAA rainfall forecast map. Some areas may end up with no measurable rain.
Missouri has been in drought (like other portions of our region). They need this rain.

Clouds are going to keep temperatures lower over the coming days. Some areas may not get out of the 70s.
Severe weather is not anticipated with this particular system. Some lightning and locally heavy downpours will be possible.
The heavy rain over southeast Missouri could trigger some water issues in some counties. The primary concern would be a few flooded roadways. This will depend on the rain-rate.
PWAT values, a measure of moisture in the atmosphere, will be quite high. Thus, some storms could produce an inch of rain in less than thirty minutes.
Portions of southeast Missouri are hilly. Those will be areas of greatest concern.
Highest rain probabilities will be Tuesday into Wednesday.
The front will push out of the region Wednesday evening/night. That will bring an end to our rain chances.
Thursday and Friday will likely be dry. For the most part, at least. Some of the guidance indicates a low-end 10% to 20% chance of isolated thunderstorms.
There will be low-end shower and thunderstorm chances over the weekend. I may have to raise probabilities Sunday. I am still monitoring the guidance.
Either way, not a bad weekend. Even with some low-end shower/thunderstorm chances.
Temperatures will remain in check. Nothing extreme.
