Today through June 5th: A fee storms could be severe Wednesday and Thursday. The primary concern will be damaging wind and hail. This is a low-end severe weather risk.
.
.
Today’s outlook (below).
Light green is where thunderstorms may occur but should be below severe levels.
Dark green is a level one risk. Yellow is a level two risk. Orange is a level three (enhanced) risk. Red is a level four (moderate) risk. Pink is a level five (high) risk.
One is the lowest risk. Five is the highest risk.
A severe storm is one that produces 58 mph wind or higher, quarter size hail, and/or a tornado.
The tan states are simply a region that SPC outlined on this particular map. Just ignore that.
The black outline is our local area.

Weather Discussion
-
- Hot weather Monday and Tuesday.
- Some gusty winds into Monday.
- Cold front arrives Wednesday into Thursday. Shower and thunderstorm chances increase.
Weather advice:
Make sure you are using the Beau Dodson Weather Talk app and not text messages. We can’t rely on Verizon and ATT to send out the text messages in a timely manner. Thus, we made the app. See links at the bottom of the page.

Forecast Discussion
Monday through Tuesday night
Dry and warm conditions during this period of time. There will be some gusty winds Monday. Gusts above 20 mph will be possible. Boaters should use care, as always.
No other weather concerns. Sun-screen weather.
.
Wednesday and Thursday
A cold front will approach and push across the region Wednesday and Thursday. There is some disagreement on the exact timing of the frontal passage.
It appears the front will completely clear the area by Thursday night.
There will be increasing chances of showers and thunderstorms Wednesday into Thursday. There is likely going to be a “likely” time period of precipitation, but that will need to be fine-tuned.
For now, I have peak chances Wednesday night into Thursday morning. Again, there could be adjustments depending on how fast the cold front pushes across the region.
Some heavy downpours and lightning will be possible along the cold front.
A few storms could reach severe levels, as well. For now, the severe weather risk appears fairly low. Not zero.
If severe thunderstorms do develop then the concern would be damaging wind and hail. Monitor updates over the coming days.
The front will likely clear the region by Thursday night. That will bring an end to the shower and thunderstorm chances.
It will be cooler Thursday night behind the cold front.
.
Friday through Sunday
I am watching some weak disturbances that will move through the zonal flow this coming weekend. I can’t completely rule out one of them producing a few showers and thunderstorms.
For the time being, I left the forecast mostly dry. If you have weekend plans then monitor updates.
It will be cooler Friday through Sunday.
You can see the change in the air-mass on these charts.
Wednesday’s high temperatures
Thursday’s high temperatures
Friday’s high temperatures
The GFS model attempts to bring a few showers and thunderstorms into the region Sunday afternoon and night.
GFS Sunday afternoon.
GFS Sunday night.
The EC model holds the shower and thunderstorm activity off until Monday.

Again, as a reminder, these are models. They are never 100% accurate. Take the general idea from them.
What should I take from these?
- The general idea and not specifics. Models usually do well with the generalities.
- The time-stamp is located in the upper left corner.
.
What am I looking at?
You are looking at different models. Meteorologists use many different models to forecast the weather. All models are wrong. Some are more wrong than others. Meteorologists have to make a forecast based on the guidance/models.
I show you these so you can see what the different models are showing as far as precipitation. If most of the models agree, then the confidence in the final weather forecast increases.
You can see my final forecast at the top of the page.
