A chilly morning.

Seven-day outlook graphic.
See the video and graphics below for more details specific to your county. This is a broad-brush overview of the entire region.

.
Today through Saturday
No major weather concerns today through Saturday night.
We will have gusty winds from time to time. As a matter of fact, winds tonight and tomorrow could reach 30 mph or greater.
These are non-thunderstorm gradient winds.
Gradient winds are caused by rapidly falling or rapidly rising barometric pressure. Many of you have barometers in your house.
No rain or snow through Saturday night.
Otherwise, a warming trend into Saturday.
Here are Saturday’s high temperatures. Not too bad for early March.

.
Sunday through Tuesday
A strong cold front will approach the region on Sunday and Sunday night.
This front will usher in much colder air. As a matter of fact, temperatures may drop into the teens in some counties on Sunday night. Brrr.
Showers and thunderstorms will accompany the front.
A few of those thunderstorms could produce hail and wind. There remain questions about how high dew points will rise.
Dew point is a measure of moisture in the atmosphere. Higher dew points are associated with higher chances for intense thunderstorms.
So, confidence in actual severe weather remains questionable. I will know more tomorrow and Saturday.
You can see the lightning forecast from the EC model.

.
The EC would bring the front through the region on Sunday night and Monday morning.
The timing will need to be monitored.
The Storm Prediction Center/NOAA has outlined portions of our region for a risk of severe weather on Sunday and Sunday night.
This is an initial outlook, and adjustments are likely.
The yellow zone represents a level two (slight) risk of severe thunderstorms. The scale ranges from one to five. Five being the highest.
.
Here is another graphic from some AI models.
It also shows a signal for a few severe thunderstorms. Monitor updates moving forward.
.
Temperatures will fall behind the front on Sunday night and Monday.
The rain may end as flurries or snow showers. Accumulation over an inch is not anticipated. There could be a dusting on grassy surfaces. Mainly over southern Illinois.
These graphics show the % chance of rain for each 12-hour period.
The daytime graphics will run from 7 AM to 7 PM.
The nighttime graphics will run from 7 PM to 7 AM.
