A severe thunderstorm is defined as a storm that produces quarter size hail or larger, 58 mph winds or greater, and/or a tornado. That is the official National Weather Service definition of a severe thunderstorm.
Saturday into Tuesday: We will have thunderstorm chances mainly on Monday into Tuesday night. Isolated storm possible on Sunday/Sunday night.
I would not change any plans. I would monitor updated forecasts. If thunderstorms approach, and you are camping, then take appropriate precautions. In other words, use common sense.
Storms that form could produce heavy rain, frequent lightning, small hail, and gusty winds.

Today and this evening
A few thunderstorms are possible, especially over southeast Missouri, extreme southern Illinois, and western Kentucky. Where storms form, they could produce torrential summer downpours, gusty winds, and cloud to ground lightning, Pea size hail is possible.
The threat for severe weather is low, but not zero. A downburst of wind would be the main concern. Wind shear is weak. Wind fields aloft are weak.
Tonight into Sunday night:
Small chance for remaining showers or storms. Chances at any given spot will be less than 30%.
Temperatures today into Sunday will mainly be in the 84 to 88 degree range this afternoon and 85 to 90 degrees on Sunday.
Low temperatures will remain in the 60’s to around 70 degrees.
Monday into Fourth of July
Hot and humid weather. Highs in the upper 80’s to lower 90’s. Scattered thunderstorms are possible Monday into Tuesday night.
There are some indications of a possible thunderstorm complex on Tuesday/Tuesday night. This will need to be monitored a bit more closely. Timing thunderstorms, during the summer months, is almost a fools game. Difficult, at best.

- Minimize the “hype” that you might see on some television stations or through other weather sources
- Push you towards utilizing wall-to-wall LOCAL TV coverage during severe weather events
