Good morning,
The blog will return tomorrow. It has been a long few weeks of forecasting! Winter weather is always a multi-day forecast challenge.
Check out the snow cover. Black letters means the entire state is covered in snow. Blue means almost the entire state is covered in snow.
We will warm into the 30s today and tomorrow. The roads should clear up nicely with daytime sunshine. At least partly sunny across most of the region. Full sunshine for some.
Watch for black ice tonight. What melts could refreeze.
We could have some flurries or freezing drizzle Sunday into Wednesday. On and off low-end chances.
I am watching Sunday night for low-end freezing drizzle chances. Otherwise, snow flurries or snow showers on/off chances into mid-week.
Another arctic front will push across the region Sunday night. Cold into the middle of the week.
The coldest mornings will be Tuesday and Wednesday. Temperatures could dip into the single digits and teens.
We warm up a bit next Thursday into Saturday. For the first time in a long time temperatures in the forties should return late next week.
Perhaps some rain around the 19th or 20th. Watching it closely. Some models show snow and ice. Confidence in precipitation is medium. Confidence in precipitation type is low, for now.
Saturday, January 18th. Perhaps a system with precipitation.
The Canadian model takes it way north and that brings us rain and even storms. Models are not in agreement.
The Canadian then brings another southern winter storm a few days later.
January 21st.
Then, another blast of cold air arrives next weekend into the following week.
Monday, January 20th temperature map. Brrr. January is certainly being January!
We will need to watch and see where the boundary sets up along the cold air. There could be wintry weather along the boundary.
Too soon to know if that will be our area.
Temperatures will vary based on snow cover. Keep that in mind. They can vary by as much as 10 or more degrees.
