Cold weather advisories/warnings blanket the region into Thursday night.

Double click this image and find a city near you.  Brrr.

Let’s look at some numbers.

These are wind chill values.  This is what the skin feels.  It is more important than the temperature.

This afternoon

Thursday morning wind chills.  brrr

Friday morning.  Brrr!

.

Some counties are in an advisory today, as well.  Either way, let’s just consider this to run from this morning into Friday morning.  It will be cold to bitterly cold.  Low actual temperatures and low wind chill values.

.

We are waking up to cold temperatures and snow covered roads.  I am still waiting to pull together all the snow reports.

Email me your snow reports.  Email me at beaudodsonweather@gmail.com

A widespread 2 to 4 inches of snow fell across the region, with numerous reports of 5 to 6 inches.  Pockets of 6 to 12 inches.  A wide range, as always.

There were several bands in the snow event that enhanced snow totals.  There was also a pocket of dry air that shut the snow down for a couple of hours in some counties.  That is normal for a snow event.

The end result, however, is the same area-wide.  Snow covered roadways.  Hazardous driving conditions..

It will remain cold into Friday night.  Bundle up the kids if they want to play in the snow.

We will have a slow warming trend beginning on Saturday and pushing into next week.  The fifties may return next week!  That will certainly feel great.

Check out Monda’s highs.  Let’s see how this trends.  Especially in areas with deep snow.  Could be fog this week, as well.  Watch for freezing fog.

.

I am not tracking any significant snow or rain events next week.  Some data shows rain next Thursday, but for now confidence in that is low.

Otherwise, it has been a long six days of forecasting!  That is an understatement.   Maybe the weatherman can get a break and rest.

.

My seven day outlook.

Forecast discussion.   Active weather.

  •  Widespread snow covered roads across the region.  Use care.
  •  Blowing snow this morning in rural areas.
  •  Bitterly cold temperatures this week.  Bitterly cold wind chill values.
  •  Flooding continues in some areas.  Avoid flooded roadways

Bitterly cold air will linger into this coming weekend  Some locations will stay below freezing for five days.  It will feel like winter.

This will likely be the coldest air of the winter season, thus far.

Wind chill temperatures will be even colder.  Well below zero, at times.  Harsh winter weather.

Remember, the body responds to wind chill.  The wind chill is more important than the actual temperatures.  Frostbite is a real concern with this upcoming winter event.

.

Check out these lows.  Wind chill temperatures will be even colder!

We have a new service to compliment your www.weathertalk.com subscription.  This does NOT replace www.weathertalk.com It is simply another tool for you to receive severe weather information.
.
I use it myself. I encourage everyone to have 3 to 5 ways of receiving their severe weather information. All sources can fail and the more sources you have, the better prepared you will be in the event of severe weather warnings.
.
WeatherCall will call your cell phone or home number if your home is in a tornado or severe thunderstorm warning.  It only calls you if your home is inside the warning box/polygon. If you are outside the warning box/polygon it will not disturb you.
Here is a video with more information and a demonstration of how it works.
