Current Weather Discussion
A series of ice storms continue to impact our region.
We have been lucky. Had this entire system been farther north, then we would have had something similar to 2009.
The big high pressure to our north saved us. That was the forecast. For the high to keep the worst of the weather to our south.
With that said, there were numerous injury falls over the past two days. Hundreds of car accidents, as well.
Icy roads are still an issue today.
We had some light freezing rain last night. Sleet, as well. This recoated some roadways. The bulk of the system impacted the southern half of the region.
Use care today and tonight.
There will still be school closings tomorrow and Friday. Some kids will have been out six days when it is all said and done.
Here is one of the graphics from last night. You can see the event impacted areas all the way to Mexico.
This mornings satellite view shows extensive clouds over the USA. A large overrunning event. Warm air moving over cold air.
When you have a boundary like that, typically you have widespread precipitation.
This morning’s radar. 5 AM. Not much going on locally, but there comes the next system in Texas.
What is the chance of an additional 0.10″ of freezing rain? You can see it is centered on our southern counties.

You can see where the precipitation is expected over the next 24 hours.
It will brush our southern counties with freezing drizzle and light freezing rain.
This last wave will push south tomorrow. That will bring an end to our precipitation chances through the weekend and early next week.
Tomorow’s weather map takes the freezing rain away from our region. That is good news.

Temperatures will slowly warm Thursday into Saturday. A strong warming trend by Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday.
Some of the data shows 60 degrees by Tuesday!
Another cold front arrives Tuesday/Tuesday night. Perhaps a couple of showers.
I continue to watch next Thursday. Perhaps some thunderstorms. Depending on the storm track, we could have showers and storms.
If the low tracks to our northwest then our thunderstorm chances increase. Let’s keep an eye on it.
