Fire Weather Discussion
A disturbance will bring the risk for a few rain showers today and Saturday, followed by a much greater risk for rain late Sunday afternoon into Monday as a low pressure system approaches. Total rainfall between a half to one inch is expected, with locally higher amounts possible. After an unseasonably warm weekend, temperatures will return to near normal by the middle of next week.
A Haines Index of 6 means a high potential for an existing fire to become large or exhibit erratic fire behavior, 5 means medium potential, 4 means low potential, and anything less than 4 means very low potential.

.Forecast Discussion
Catch me on WMOK radio this morning! I will be discussing the Christmas forecast and what comes next.
I will have a special guest with me! My mom, Judy Dodson, will be with me!
The primary weather concern, over the coming days, will be scattered to numerous showers and eventually even thunderstorms.
We do have scattered showers on radar this morning. Mainly over southeast Missouri and southern Illinois. Rain chances will be lower over Kentucky and Tennessee (today).
Here was the 6 am radar.
Scattered showers are possible area-wide tonight. Tapering precipitation chances Saturday.
Scattered showers return Saturday night area-wide. Then, lower chances Sunday (during the day).
It will be quite mild today into Monday. As a matter of fact, I do have 60s in the forecast.
The warmest day will be Sunday. Low to middle 60s are likely. Not sure if someone climbs into the upper 60s. We will have quite a few clouds.
Rain totals today through Sunday will be light. Generally trace amount up to 0.25″. A bit higher over northern portions of southeast Missouri and northern portions of southern Illinois.
Here is the rainfall forecast for the next 72 hours. A bit more north and west vs south and east.
Widespread showers and thunderstorms arrive Sunday night and that will last into Monday night. Scattered lighter showers are possible Tuesday and Wednesday.
Rainfall totals between now and Wednesday. Most of this will fall Sunday night into Monday night.
No severe weather concerns. That is the good news.
No snow or ice in the forecast through next Thursday.
