Weather Discussion
-
- Rain tonight. Ending early Saturday.
- Turning colder Saturday.
- A light wintry mix Sunday afternoon and night.
- A light wintry mix possible Tuesday night and Wednesday.
Our much anticipated cold front is now approaching from the west.
A band of showers and embedded thunderstorms will accompany the cold front.
You can see that on satellite and radar.

Rain totals of 0.50″ to 1.00″ will occur over southeast Missouri. Then lower totals as you move eastward.
The rain will end early Saturday morning from west to east.
Temperatures Saturday will peak early in the day. Then, temperatures will fall into the 40s. Chilly wind, as well. Wind gusts above 25 mph.
Patchy drizzle can’t be ruled out Saturday/Saturday night.
A weak system will bring more clouds Sunday afternoon and night. A light wintry mix will be possible with snow accumulation on elevated surfaces of 0.00″ to 0.25″. Don’t expect much.
Dry Monday into Tuesday.
Another system will need to be monitored Tuesday night and Wednesday. Models do not agree on the strength or placement of that system.
Some models shows 4 to 8″ of snow. Other models show no precipitation. For now, I am monitoring it and I do have low-end precipitation chances in the forecast.
.

Again, as a reminder, these are models. They are never 100% accurate. Take the general idea from them.
What should I take from these?
- The general idea and not specifics. Models usually do well with the generalities.
- The time-stamp is located in the upper left corner.
.
What am I looking at?
You are looking at different models. Meteorologists use many different models to forecast the weather. All models are wrong. Some are more wrong than others. Meteorologists have to make a forecast based on the guidance/models.
I show you these so you can see what the different models are showing as far as precipitation. If most of the models agree, then the confidence in the final weather forecast increases.
