7-day forecast for southeast Missouri, southern Illinois, western Kentucky, and western Tennessee.
This is a BLEND for the region. See the detailed region by region forecast further down in this post.
THE FORECAST IS GOING TO VARY FROM LOCATION TO LOCATION.
SEE THE DAILY DETAILS (REGION BY REGION) FURTHER DOWN IN THIS BLOG UPDATE.
48-hour forecast
.
.
Monday to Monday
1. Is lightning in the forecast? Yes. Lightning is possible Wednesday and Wednesday night. I am watching a weekend cold front that will bring thunderstorms. Perhaps Saturday or Sunday. I need to work on the timing of that event.
2. Are severe thunderstorms in the forecast? Monitor. I am watching a cold front this coming Saturday and Sunday. I can’t rule out severe thunderstorms, but it is too early for certainties.
The NWS officially defines a severe thunderstorm as a storm with 58 mph wind or greater, 1″ hail or larger, and/or tornadoes
3. Is flash flooding in the forecast? Not at this time.
4. Will the heat index top 100 degrees? No.
5. Is measurable snow or ice in the forecast? No.
6. Will the wind chill dip below 10 degrees? No.

Today through April 25th: I am watching this coming weekend. A cold front will push into the region from the west. Thunderstorms are possible along the front. It appears the most likely time-frame will be Saturday night and Sunday. Monitor updates. It is too soon to know if severe thunderstorms will be a concern.
.
.
Today’s outlook (below).
Light green is where thunderstorms may occur but should be below severe levels.
Dark green is a level one risk. Yellow is a level two risk. Orange is a level three (enhanced) risk. Red is a level four (moderate) risk. Pink is a level five (high) risk.
One is the lowest risk. Five is the highest risk.
A severe storm is one that produces 58 mph wind or higher, quarter size hail, and/or a tornado.
The tan states are simply a region that SPC outlined on this particular map. Just ignore that.
The black outline is our local area.

Weather Discussion
-
- Frost possible Monday night.
- Scattered showers and thunderstorms Wednesday.
- Thunderstorms possible Saturday night/Sunday
Weather advice:
Make sure you are using the Beau Dodson Weather Talk app and not text messages. We can’t rely on Verizon and ATT to send out the text messages in a timely manner. Thus, we made the app. See links at the bottom of the page.

Forecast Discussion
We are now over 400 reports of severe weather from the 4/13/22 outbreak.
15 tornadoes in Kentucky. Thirty tornadoes region-wide. It is possible that additional tornadoes will be added if additional paths are found.
We are going to see some sunshine Monday. There will be some morning clouds. Gradual clearing from west to east as the day wears on.
No major weather concerns for your Monday.
Frost is possible tonight (Monday night). Temperatures area-wide will likely be in the lower to middle 30s. This will cause some frost as winds subside.
I am hoping this is our last frost threat.
Here are two graphics from the NWS. I don’t have one from the Paducah office.

Tuesday will be dry. We will have a weather system approaching from the west. Quite a bit of sunshine. Some afternoon clouds.
Clouds will thicken Tuesday night and Wednesday as a storm system pulls into the region.
There could be some scattered showers Tuesday night over southeast Missouri and southwest Illinois. The rest of the area should remain dry.
Shower and thunderstorm activity will increase west to east Wednesday and Wednesday night.
Peak shower and thunderstorm chances should be late Wednesday afternoon into Wednesday night. Tapering west to east late Wednesday night.
Severe weather is not anticipated.
A few remaining showers and thunderstorms will be possible Thursday. It is possible most of the area will be dry Thursday.
A warming trend by Friday and Saturday! These may be the warmest days of spring, thus far.
We are expecting the thermometer to rise into the upper 70s and lower 80s both days. It is about time we see some 80s! We are past our seasonal normal time of seeing 80 degrees on the thermometer.
A cold front will push into the region late Saturday and Sunday.
Models do not agree on the timing of this front.
Showers and thunderstorms will accompany the front. It is too soon to know if severe weather will be a concern. We need to monito it. We should be in the warm sector of the system.

Again, as a reminder, these are models. They are never 100% accurate. Take the general idea from them.
What should I take from these?
- The general idea and not specifics. Models usually do well with the generalities.
- The time-stamp is located in the upper left corner.
.
What am I looking at?
You are looking at different models. Meteorologists use many different models to forecast the weather. All models are wrong. Some are more wrong than others. Meteorologists have to make a forecast based on the guidance/models.
I show you these so you can see what the different models are showing as far as precipitation. If most of the models agree, then the confidence in the final weather forecast increases.
You can see my final forecast at the top of the page.
