Your day by day analysis
Thursday night into Friday night:
Dry weather is anticipated on Thursday night. Mild temperatures, as well.
There is a small chance for a shower after 1 am over southeast Missouri and southwest Illinois. I will keep the chance at 20% for the time being.
Friday will deliver quite a bit of sunshine, but with a weak disturbance passing through the area. A few showers and thunderstorms may develop. The highest chance will be over northern parts of southeast Missouri and northern parts of southern Illinois. Chances will be capped around 30% to 40%.
Friday high temperature map
Elsewhere, including extreme southern Illinois, far southeast Missouri, western Kentucky, and northwest Tennessee, there will be small chances for showers and storms. Expect warm conditions with high temperatures mostly in the 78 to 84 degree range. Well above normal.
7 AM future-cast radar for Friday
Isolated showers possible. Green represents rain.
Future-cast radar for 4 PM on Friday. Some widely scattered showers and storms.
Severe weather is not anticipated, but if a thunderstorm develops it could be strong with small hail and gusty winds. Lightning, of course is always a concern with thunderstorms.
Friday night:
We will dry out Friday night (for those who picked up a rain shower). Patchy fog is possible. It will be mild with lows mostly in the upper 50’s to lower 60’s.
Saturday:
Saturday is the pick day of the weekend. Warm! Breezy! Quite a bit of sunshine. It will be a nice day (other than some gusty winds).
1 PM wind gust forecast for Saturday.
Highs on Saturday will be well above normal with highs from 78 to 84 degrees. This is well above normal. I think you will enjoy Saturday’s weather. You better, because rain is likely on Easter Sunday.
Saturday high temperature map
Saturday night into Monday:
Clouds will increase and lower on Saturday night. The first half of the night should be dry. There is a small chance for a thunderstorm over the Farmington, MO to Mt Vernon, IL area before 10 pm.
Shower and thunderstorm activity will increase considerably after midnight. Rain chances late Saturday night into Sunday will increase to around 60%.
The rain band will move north to south. It is possible that our northern counties dry out on Sunday morning/afternoon. The rain band will continue to shift slowly southward through the day.
The front will stall in or near our region.
If you have Easter Sunday plans then I would recommend having alternative plans, in case it does rain.
Rain chances will decrease somewhat on Sunday night and Monday, but I suspect radar will still have activity on it. The higher rain chances will shift southward through the evening and overnight hours.
Future-cast radar from the NAM. This is for Sunday. This is what the NAM guidance believes radar might look like. Notice the band of rain from west to east. It is possible that portions of the region (northern counties) might experience less rain.
10 AM Sunday
KEEP IN MIND ~ this is one models opinion.
1 PM Sunday
4 PM Sunday
7 PM Sunday
Monday night through Wednesday:
A few showers are possible on Monday night.
Confidence decreases on Tuesday and Wednesday. Some of the guidance indicates a continued chance for showers. I will update this part of the forecast in the next update.

We have regional radars and local city radars – if a radar does not update then try another one. Occasional browsers need their cache cleared. You may also try restarting your browser. That usually fixes the problem. Occasionally we do have a radar go down. That is why I have duplicates. Thus, if one fails then try another one.
During the winter you can track snow and ice by clicking the winterize button on the local city view interactive radars.

The Beau Dodson Weather APP is ready for Apple and Android users. The purpose of this app is for me to deliver your text messages instantly. ATT and Verizon have not always been reliable when it comes to speed. The app allows instant delivery.
Some of you have asked if you can keep receiving the texts on your phone and the app. The answer to that is, yes. The Android app will automatically allow that to happen. On the Apple app, however, you will need to go into your app and click settings. Make sure the green tab is OFF. Off means you will still receive the texts to your phone and the app. If you have any questions, then email me at beaudodson@usawx.com

There is a lot of noise on the internet. A lot of weather maps are posted without explanation. Over time you should learn who to trust for your weather information.
My forecast philosophy is simple and straight forward.
- Communicate in simple terms
- To be as accurate as possible within a reasonable time frame before an event
- Interact with you on Twitter, Facebook, email, texts, and this blog
- Minimize the “hype” that you might see on some television stations or through other weather sources
- Push you towards utilizing wall-to-wall LOCAL TV coverage during severe weather events

WeatherBell is a great resource for weather model guidance.
You can sign up for my AWARE email by clicking here I typically send out AWARE emails before severe weather, winter storms, or other active weather situations. I do not email watches or warnings. The emails are a basic “heads up” concerning incoming weather conditions
