Good morning, everyone.
I hope you are having a nice week. The weather has been amazing.
Another great day of weather ahead of us. Highs today will reach well into the 60s. A few locations may hit the 70 degree mark!
We did have some clouds yesterday. Fewer clouds today. Just scattered clouds, but they should not impact temperatures. That is the good news.
A cold front will push into the region Thursday night and Friday. This will bring light showers back into the forecast. I have increased rain chances, since confidence in the forecast outcome has increased.
The coverage of rain will be greater east of the Mississippi River vs west of it. Highest rain chances will be across southern Illinois, western Kentucky, and portions of Tennessee.
Rain totals won’t be all that much. At this time, I am forecasting 0.05″ to 0.10″ west of the Mississippi River. I am forecasting 0.05″ to 0.20″ east of the Mississippi River.

This is for the Thursday night and Friday rain event.
Not much. This is a light event.
The rain will come to an end Friday afternoon and evening.
It will turn colder Friday night into the weekend. As a matter of fact, some locations may dip into the 20s both nights. Widespread 30s.
Another freeze will occur this weekend.
Dry conditions Friday night through Sunday morning.
Our much talked about next rain event will arrive Sunday night into Tuesday. There continue to be significant differences in the model sets as to the track and intensity of this system.
The EC and Canadian models are showing a much more organized area of low pressure passing in or near our region. This would mean locally moderate to even locally heavy downpours. Maybe even a few non-severe thunderstorms.
You can see that on these two graphics.
The black lines are isobars. Equal lines of pressure. The red L is the area of low pressure. Cooler north of the low. Warmer south and east of the low.
Typically, severe weather occurs south and east of the low.

The GFS model, on the other hand, is a much weaker system. It would still bring rain to the region, but not much.
I will continue to fine tune the forecast numbers.
For now, I have at least scattered showers Sunday night with increasing rain coverage Monday into Tuesday. Rain ending Tuesday or Tuesdays night.
Let’s look at the current projections for rain totals. This is Thursday night through next Tuesday night.
The bulk of this falls Sunday night into Tuesday (see the other map above for the first system).
I would not be surprised to see adjustments in the rain totals.
For now, I will leave Wednesday and Thanksgiving Day dry. Keep checking updates.
Cool both Wednesday and Thursday. Chilly at night.
Highs in the 40s and 50s. Lows in the 20s and 30s.
Deer hunters will have chilly temperatures Wednesday morning.
