Weather Highlights

    1.   Warming trend.
    2.   Decent weekend ahead of us.
    3.   Rain chances ramp up early next week.
    4.  Watching a system around the 10th through the 15th.  A stronger system.

Weather advice:

Make sure you have three to five ways of receiving your severe weather information.

.Forecast Discussion

Quiet weather has settled back into the region.  I do not have any weather concerns today through Sunday night.

There is a small chance of a light shower Saturday night.  I capped that at 20%, for the time being.  I would not worry about it.

Otherwise, the good news is that this morning is the coldest morning of the coming days.

7 AM Thursday morning temps were chilly.  Widespread 20s.  Again.

We started talking about this cold wave two weeks ago.  Now, it has come and gone.

The great news is that warmer air will filter back into the region over the coming days.  As a matter of fact, some locations may hit the 70 degree mark this weekend.

Yes.  Seventy degrees!!!  Woohoo!  It will feel great.

Saturday high temperatures.  Double click the image to make it larger.

Sunday high temperatures.  Milder.

A cold front will push into the region Monday into Wednesday.

This front will bring shower chances and cooler air.  Nothing too extreme on the temperature front.

Rain totals are forecast to be on the light side.  Likely in the 0.01″ to 0.25″ range.

Here is the latest WPC rainfall forecast.  Let’s watch trends on this.  Not much.  Most of this will fall Monday night into Tuesday night.

As you can see, they have trace amounts up to 0.15″.

I continue to watch a larger storm system around the 10th through the 15th.  Most of the data centers it around the 12th and 13th.

Still way out there in model-land.  In the long long range.

Just something that I am monitoring.  For now, the models are showing rain.  Some heavy rain potential and maybe even some thunderstorms.

Keep checking back on this one.

When a model keeps showing me the same thing over and over again, then I pay attention.  This one keeps showing up in the charts.

The ensembles are picking up on a rain event, as well.

Ensemble forecasting is a method used in or within numerical weather prediction. Instead of making a single forecast of the most likely weather, a set of forecasts is produced. This set of forecasts aims to give an indication of the range of possible future states of the atmosphere.

Currently models show plenty of warm air with that system.

No, there is zero truth in the models showing a big snowstorm in the long range.  I did have several people ask me that question.  Unsure where that came from!

This graphic shows you temperature anomaly forecasts for the storm system around the 13th of November.  Red is above average temperatures.

Don’t forget to turn your clocks back one hour Saturday night!

Again, as a reminder, these are models. They are never 100% accurate. Take the general idea from them.

What should I take from these?

  1. The general idea and not specifics. Models usually do well with the generalities.
  2. The time-stamp is located in the upper left corner.
