- Rain chances this afternoon and tonight.
- A few weekend clouds and showers. Cooler and breezy.
Weather advice:
Make sure you have three to five ways of receiving your severe weather information.
.Forecast Discussion
A cold front is advancing into the region from western Missouri and Iowa. This front will sweep eastward today into tonight.
Here is the 7 AM radar snapshot. You can see the front (scroll down to see our live radars)
The front will be accompanied by a chance of showers and thunderstorms. I do not expect severe weather to be a concern.
Rain totals will be light. Some areas will receive almost no rain. Other areas may pick up 0.25″. Thunderstorms can produce slightly higher totals.
It will be warm today with highs well into the 70s over the bulk of the region. The exception will be our far northwest counties in southeast Missouri. Clouds will likely keep temperatures a few degrees cooler.
The bulk of the rain through 4 PM will be across southeast Missouri and southern Illinois.
Rain chances ramp up late this afternoon and evening over the rest of the region. I can’t rule out a light shower at any given point after 12 PM. But, the main frontal boundary won’t arrive until this evening.
The highest rain chances will be near the front.
A clap of thunder will be possible today and tonight.
The front will push off to the east tonight and tomorrow morning. This will usher in breezy northwest winds, cooler temperatures, and intervals of clouds through Monday.
I do have low-end shower chances Saturday into Monday. Mostly in the 20% to 30% range. Any rainfall would be light in nature. No severe weather concerns.
Dry conditions are anticipated Monday night through Wednesday. Autumn like temperatures.
I am watching rain chances next Wednesday night into Thursday night.
