I was up late last night tracking storms. The blog is a bit later than usual.
Another 24 hours of crazy rain totals in the region.
Portions of Marion, Illinois and surrounding areas received 3.00″ to 6.50″ of rain! Portions of Calloway County received 0.50″ to 4.50″ of rain. Some of my eastern counties received over 6.00″ of rain, as well.
The totals swung wildly from county to county. Here is just a sampling.

The front that brought the recent rain is slowly washing out. Dissipating.
We do have some weak boundaries in the region today. A few storms could redevelop. Where storms occur they will be heavy. Severe weather appears unlikely.
The bulk of the rain has pushed off to the south and east. See the radars.
It will be humid today. Even more humid in areas that received rain.
Most of the region will be dry tonight through Sunday night. A few widely scattered thunderstorms will be possible. Not widespread like recent days.
It will be warm and muggy this weekend. Heat index values will approach 100 degrees.
Another cold front will sink into the region Monday into Tuesday. This front will bring additional shower and thunderstorm chances. There remain some questions about the extent of the coverage. It does appear likely probabilities will be in order at some point both days. I will fine tune those numbers as confidence increases in the forecast.
It will be warm and humid Monday and Tuesday. Nothing extreme like recent weeks. That is good news.
The front will likely push out of the region Wednesday and Thursday. I did, for now, leave some rain chances in the Wednesday forecast. It is possible those will be removed if the front pushes out of the region a bit faster.
Thursday and Friday should be dry.
It does not take much, this time of the year, to produce a few showers and thunderstorms. Weak disturbances is all it takes. Thus, I will monitor Thursday and Friday.
