48-hour forecast
.
.
Monday to Monday
1. Is lightning in the forecast? Yes. Monday, Monday night, Tuesday, Tuesday night, Wednesday, Wednesday night. I am monitoring Saturday night and Sunday, as well.
2. Are severe thunderstorms in the forecast? Yes. Severe thunderstorms are possible Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. I am monitoring Easter Sunday, as well. All modes of severe weather will be possible this week. Hail, wind, and tornadoes. Monito updates. The LIVE SEVERE WEATHER BLOG has been activated for Monday through Wednesday’s severe weather threat. Link: Click here.
The NWS officially defines a severe thunderstorm as a storm with 58 mph wind or greater, 1″ hail or larger, and/or tornadoes
3. Is flash flooding in the forecast? Possible. Locally heavy rain could cause some water issues. The primary concern would be where thunderstorms train over the same areas repeatedly. This will enhance rain totals. Some locations could exceed three inches of rain between Monday and Wednesday. Avoid flooded roadways. The bulk of the area will receive 0.8″ to 1.6″ of rain. The higher totals, of course, will be the primary concern.
4. Will the wind chill dip below 10 degrees? No.
5. Is measurable snow or ice in the forecast? No.
6. Will the heat index top 100 degrees? No.

Today through April 15th: Severe thunderstorms are possible Monday through Wednesday. I am also monitoring Easter Sunday. See the LIVE SEVERE WEATHER BLOG for more details. Link: Click here.
The highest risk of severe thunderstorms will be Wednesday.
.
.
Today’s outlook (below).
Light green is where thunderstorms may occur but should be below severe levels.
Dark green is a level one risk. Yellow is a level two risk. Orange is a level three (enhanced) risk. Red is a level four (moderate) risk. Pink is a level five (high) risk.
One is the lowest risk. Five is the highest risk.
A severe storm is one that produces 58 mph wind or higher, quarter size hail, and/or a tornado.
The tan states are simply a region that SPC outlined on this particular map. Just ignore that.
The black outline is our local area.

Weather Discussion
-
- Stormy weather.
- Severe weather risks. Heavy rain risks.
- Have three to five ways of receiving severe weather information.
- Dry Thursday and Friday.
- Watching another system Friday night into Easter Sunday.
Weather advice:
The LIVE SEVERE WEATHER BLOG has been activated for Monday through Wednesday’s severe weather threat. Link: Click here.
Make sure you are using the Beau Dodson Weather Talk app and not text messages. We can’t rely on Verizon and ATT to send out the text messages in a timely manner. Thus, we made the app. See links at the bottom of the page.
.
Forecast Discussion
I have a longer discussion on the severe weather blog. Please see that, as well.
We will have active weather over the coming days. Several rounds of showers and thunderstorms will impact the region. Not the best weather forecast.
The good news is that it will at least be warmer. That warmer air does come at a price. It usually does.
There are some uncertainties about precipitation chances Friday night through Sunday. It does appear another storm system will push into our region this coming weekend.
I know many of you have outdoor plans Saturday and Sunday. It is a holiday weekend. I would monitor the latest forecast numbers.
The higher rain probabilities will likely be Saturday night into Easter Sunday night. Most of the data does show numerous showers and perhaps thunderstorms.
It is a bit early to know if severe weather will be a concern. If we end up in the warm sector then severe storms will be possible. Monito updates, as always.
Here is the severe weather discussion (see the severe weather blog)
—> The LIVE SEVERE WEATHER BLOG has been activated for Monday through Wednesday’s severe weather threat. Link: Click here.
Monitor updates. Monitor your Beau Dodson Weather App. Monitor local media. Have THREE TO FIVE ways of receiving severe weather information. Do not rely on just one source. Every source can fail at one point or another. Thus, having multiple sources of severe weather information is the best advice.

Again, as a reminder, these are models. They are never 100% accurate. Take the general idea from them.
What should I take from these?
- The general idea and not specifics. Models usually do well with the generalities.
- The time-stamp is located in the upper left corner.
.
What am I looking at?
You are looking at different models. Meteorologists use many different models to forecast the weather. All models are wrong. Some are more wrong than others. Meteorologists have to make a forecast based on the guidance/models.
I show you these so you can see what the different models are showing as far as precipitation. If most of the models agree, then the confidence in the final weather forecast increases.
You can see my final forecast at the top of the page.
