Today through April 4th: Severe weather is currently not anticipated through Monday. I will keep an eye on next Tuesday and Wednesday.
.
.
Today’s outlook (below).
Light green is where thunderstorms may occur but should be below severe levels.
Dark green is a level one risk. Yellow is a level two risk. Orange is a level three (enhanced) risk. Red is a level four (moderate) risk. Pink is a level five (high) risk.
One is the lowest risk. Five is the highest risk.
A severe storm is one that produces 58 mph wind or higher, quarter size hail, and/or a tornado.
The tan states are simply a region that SPC outlined on this particular map. Just ignore that.
The black outline is our local area.

-
- Clouds. Light showers.
- Cold tonight.
- Weekend weather.
- Rain chances next week.
Weather advice:
Make sure you are using the Beau Dodson Weather Talk app and not text messages. We can’t rely on Verizon and ATT to send out the text messages in a timely manner. Thus, we made the app. See links at the bottom of the page.

Forecast Discussion
Our severe weather event has pushed off to the east.
Numerous counties were placed under tornado and severe thunderstorm warnings. There were quite a few reports of wind damage. Several barns destroyed in the region. Some of the winds gusted to 80 mph!
There were several tornado warnings. Radar showed quite a few areas of rotation. We will have to see if the NWS confirms any tornadoes. There were one or two radar signatures that looked like strong rotation. I would not be surprised if there was a couple of QLCS tornadoes. They tend to be short lived.
Here were some of the storm damage reports. More will be added as the reports are gathered.
That system is pulling away from our area. It has left some wrap-around clouds and light rain in our region.
Today will be cooler. Damp. Scattered light showers. That will carry over into this evening.
Clouds should thin later tonight. That will allow the thermometer to drop. Some patchy frost is possible tonight. Perhaps a light freeze in some counties. Quite similar to the other night.
Our cold weather is not quite over. I know many of you would love to have a solid week of warm temperatures. Just not in the cards, yet.
A fast moving cold front will pass through the region Friday night and Saturday. Expect increasing clouds with scattered showers late Friday night into Saturday.
It won’t rain all day. Some locations may not receive any measurable rain. Pack an umbrella Saturday, just in case your location picks up a light shower.
That system will quickly move off to the east by Saturday evening.
Sunday will be dry. A little warmer. Pick day of the weekend.
A series of systems will push back into the region by late Sunday night into at least Wednesday.
We are going to have on and off chances of showers and thunderstorms during this time-period. Unsettled weather.
Some locally heavy downpours are possible Tuesday and Wednesday.
At this time, there is uncertainty about the risk of severe thunderstorms. Just too early to make a call on that. Monitor updates moving forward, as always.
The GFS model shows Wednesday dry. The EC model guidance shows Wednesday wet. I will keep an eye on the timing of next weeks precipitation. Adjustments are possible.

Again, as a reminder, these are models. They are never 100% accurate. Take the general idea from them.
What should I take from these?
- The general idea and not specifics. Models usually do well with the generalities.
- The time-stamp is located in the upper left corner.
.
What am I looking at?
You are looking at different models. Meteorologists use many different models to forecast the weather. All models are wrong. Some are more wrong than others. Meteorologists have to make a forecast based on the guidance/models.
I show you these so you can see what the different models are showing as far as precipitation. If most of the models agree, then the confidence in the final weather forecast increases.
You can see my final forecast at the top of the page.
