A mild day ahead of us. Great for travel. Highs in the upper 50s to around 60 degrees. Increasing clouds ahead of our next cold front with gusty winds.
Wind gusts should top 30 mph from time to time.
Wind gusts Wednesday
Widespread rain will develop over southeast Missouri and southern Illinois late Wednesday night. That will spread eastward into the morning hours of Thanksgiving.
Expect widespread rain Thursday. The bulk of the rain should be during the morning hours Thursday vs the afternoon. A few remaining showers will be possible during the afternoon.
The rain will end west to east Thursday. That means southeast Missouri and southwest Illinois will see rain-free conditions first and the Pennyrile area of western Kentucky will experience rain-free conditions last.

Thursday night should be dry and quite a bit colder with lower to middle 20s expected. Brr.
You can see the temperatures ahead of the cold front and behind it on this NAM model animation. Gives you at least an idea of the change.
Mild air ahead of the front. Cold air behind the front. Seems we are stuck in this pattern. Warm shots followed by cold.
Cold air will usher in behind the front Thursday night and Friday. Lows by Friday morning will drop into the lower to middle 20s.
Lows Friday morning will be 20 to 25 degrees colder than Thursday morning.
This graphic shows you how many degrees colder it will be. These are NOT temperatures. Just the temperature change.
There is a chance of patchy black ice Thursday night. If the wind does not dry surfaces, then water (from the rain that has fallen) will freeze. Puddles and what not.

Rain totals from the Wednesday night and Thursday will range from 0.25″ to 0.50″. Locally slightly higher totals are possible.
Here is the general idea for rain totals during that time period.

Dry conditions are anticipated Friday into Tuesday.
Clouds will increase during the day Saturday/Saturday night from the northwest. A couple of light showers will be possible Saturday evening/night over primarily southeast Illinois and western Kentucky. A fast moving clipper-like system will push through the region (fairly moisture starved).
Long range indicates a warming trend next week. No severe weather in the charts. No snow or ice in the charts.
The long range shows another chance of precipitation around next Friday/Saturday. Models have been going back and forth with rain chances Wednesday and Thursday. The latest run of the GFS model took those rain chances away. I will monitor trends.
Wednesday (long way out for models to be accurate). I will watch trends in the guidance.

What am I looking at?
You are looking at different models. Meteorologists use many different models to forecast the weather. All models are wrong. Some are more wrong than others. Meteorologists have to make a forecast based on the guidance/models.
I show you these so you can see what the different models are showing as far as precipitation. If most of the models agree, then the confidence in the final weather forecast increases.
