Today through November 25th:  Severe weather is not anticipated.

Today’s outlook (below).

Light green is where thunderstorms may occur but should be below severe levels.

Dark green is a level one risk. Yellow is a level two risk. Orange is a level three (enhanced) risk. Red is a level four (moderate) risk. Pink is a level five (high) risk.

One is the lowest risk. Five is the highest risk.

A severe storm is one that produces 58 mph wind or higher, quarter size hail, and/or a tornado.

The tan states are simply a region that SPC outlined on this particular map. Just ignore that.

The black outline is our local area.

Weather Discussion

    1.    Dry today through Saturday.
    2.    Rain showers Sunday.
    3.    Much colder early next week.
    4.    Thanksgiving forecast.

Weather advice:

Make sure you are using the Beau Dodson Weather Talk app and not text messages.  We can’t rely on Verizon and ATT to send out the text messages in a timely manner.  Thus, we made the app.  See links at the bottom of the page.

.

Weather Discussion

A cool and quiet weather day ahead of us.  No significant weather concerns.

A fast moving cold front will bring clouds to the region beginning Friday night/Saturday.  There should be just enough moisture for a few showers late Saturday night into Sunday.

It appears rain chances will be higher over our eastern counties vs western.  That means lower rain chances over southern Illinois and southeast Missouri and higher rain chances over western Kentucky and perhaps northwest Tennessee (Saturday night/Sunday).

Rain totals of 0.00 to 0.40″ are anticipated from this event.  Some areas won’t receive measurable rain.

Here is what the GFS model shows for rain totals.

Much colder air moves into the region Sunday night into Tuesday.  As a matter of fact, Tuesday morning lows will likely be the coldest air of the season, thus far.  Expect lower to middle 20s area-wide.

Wind chill temperatures Monday morning and then again Monday night/Tuesday morning will be in the teens.  Brr weather.

Monday morning wind chill values

Tuesday morning wind chill values

I continue to watch Wednesday through Thursday for additional precipitation chances.

It is possible that we have several periods of precipitation from Wednesday into Thursday.  A series of systems.

Again, as a reminder, these are models. They are never 100% accurate. Take the general idea from them.

What should I take from these?

  1. The general idea and not specifics. Models usually do well with the generalities.
  2. The time-stamp is located in the upper left corner.
  3. The EC European weather model is in Zulu time.

.

What am I looking at?
You are looking at different models. Meteorologists use many different models to forecast the weather. All models are wrong. Some are more wrong than others. Meteorologists have to make a forecast based on the guidance/models.

I show you these so you can see what the different models are showing as far as precipitation. If most of the models agree, then the confidence in the final weather forecast increases.

You can see my final forecast at the top of the page.
