Weather Discussion
Showers and thunderstorms are going to be possible today into the weekend. Locally heavy rain will occur in some locations (especially where thunderstorms occur).
Activity will be a bit more numerous over southeast Missouri today. Then, scattered over the rest of the region.
A stronger system will push into the region Saturday and Sunday. This will bring numerous showers and thunderstorms to the entire area. If you have plans Friday night through Sunday night, then you will want to monitor updated forecasts and the radars. There will be rain on radar during this time period.
The good news is that this does not appear to be a particularly heavy rain event. A widespread 0.25″ to 0.50″ will be the general rule through Sunday night. There will be pockets of higher totals where thunderstorms occur. As is always the case. Thunderstorms can double your rain totals.
Temperatures today and Friday will be above average with widespread 80s. Clouds will help lower temperatures as we push through Saturday and Sunday. Expect more 70s vs 80s. It will feel cooler.
An upper level low will be situated near our region Monday through at least Wednesday of next week. That could mean additional spotty shower activity. Confidence in this time period is a bit lower than average (for now). I need to see where the upper level low is located in order to determine how high our rain chances will be. For now, I have lower-end chances and will update as confidence in the final forecast increases.
