Forecast discussion

  •  Calm weather.
  •  A couple of light showers this morning.
  •  Cooler weather.

.

.
What is the primary weather concern today and tonight?

No weather concerns today or tonight.  A few showers this morning over west KY and west TN.  Moving off to the east early this morning.

.

Here are the early morning current conditions.  These are the 4 AM readings.

.

Good morning.  Your weatherman is a bit tired from the last two days of severe weather.

I am thankful this year has been super quiet for our region.  This is our second severe weather event of the year.  That produced quite a few reports.

We did have widespread hail reports on Monday and some on Tuesday.

Monday’s outbreak lacked long-tracked tornadoes, but we did have quite a few other weather issues.

Hail was up to the size of at least baseballs.  Perhaps larger.

Here were the Monday hail tracks.   Impressive long-track hailstorms.

There were a few tornadoes in the area on Monday and at least one yesterday.

Here are the severe weather reports from the Storm Prediction Center.

More tornadoes will be added to this once the NWS finishes storm surveys.

Monday’s preliminary storm reports.

Widespread severe weather.

Tuesday’s preliminary reports.

.

The good news is that we all get a break from the severe weather today through Sunday.

No major weather concerns.

A few light showers this morning.  Mainly over Kentucky and Tennessee.  That will push off to the east early this morning.

The next chance of showers will arrive late Sunday night into the middle of next week.

For now, I capped these chances at 20%.    I would not be surprised if those numbers go up a bit once confidence in the final forecast increases.

For now, let’s enjoy this nice weather.  Cooler.  Calmer.

We have a new service to complement your www.weathertalk.com subscription.  This does NOT replace www.weathertalk.com It is simply another tool for you to receive severe weather information.

.
I use it myself. I encourage everyone to have 3 to 5 ways of receiving their severe weather information. All sources can fail, and the more sources you have, the better prepared you will be in the event of severe weather warnings.
.
WeatherCall will call your cell phone or home number if your home is under a tornado or severe thunderstorm warning.  It only calls you ifyour home is inside the warning box/polygon. If you are outside the warning box/polygon it will not disturb you.
Here is a video with more information and a demonstration of how it works.
