Seven-Day Hazardous Weather Outlook

1. Is lightning in the forecast?  NO.

2.  Are organized/widespread severe thunderstorms in the forecast? NO.

.3. Is significant or widespread flash flooding in the forecast? NO.     

4. Will non-thunderstorm winds top 40 mph?  NO.    

5. Will the temperature fall below 20 degrees?  POSSIBLE.  Some counties will fall below 20 degrees Tuesday night through Thursday night.

6. Is the wind chill forecast to drop below ten degrees?  NO.

7.  Is accumulating snow or ice in the forecast?  MONITOR.   There is a low risk of a wintry mix Thursday night into Friday night.  Another chance around Sunday.  For now, confidence in these events is low.

Forecast discussion

•   Cold week ahead of us.
•   Some icy spots this morning.  Use care on elevated surfaces and untreated roadways.
•   Another weak system arrives on Thursday night and Friday. Another one on Sunday.

We are waking up to chilly temperatures.  Some counties have a glaze of ice and even some light snow.  Watch out for slick spots.  Watch your first step outside.  It could be an icy one.  We don’t want you to fall.

Give yourself a little more time on roadways.  Some are icy.  Many areas reported light totals.

It will remain cold today with highs in the thirties.  Some sunshine should help with the roads.

It will be cold tonight with many counties dipping into the teens and lower twenties.

Wednesday will be slightly warmer with highs in the upper thirties to lower forties.

Thursday through Sunday

Thursday will turn a bit colder behind another cold front.

There could be some light wintry mix Thursday night into Friday night.  Confidence, however, in that happening is low.  I am monitoring trends.  Quite a bit of the data shows little or no measurable precipitation.

It is possible that the Wednesday/Wednesday night cold front pushes far enough south that we are spared precipitation.

Monitor updates.

Saturday will likely be dry and cool.

Yet another fast-moving system will move through the region on Sunday.  This could bring another chance of showers or a wintry mix.

I am watching two more systems next week.  A bit early to know how those will pan out.  Something to monitor moving forward.
