🌪️ Seven-Day Tornado Outlook ⛈️

July 2nd through July 9th

Current riskNone.

Current confidence level: High confidence in the forecast.

Comment:   No tornado threats.

.

Seven-Day Hazardous Weather Outlook

1. Is lightning in the forecast?  YES.   Scattered lightning on Sunday through Wednesday.

2.  Are organized severe thunderstorms in the forecast?  NOT AT THIS TIME.  I will be monitoring next week’s cold front.

3. Is flash flooding in the forecast? NOT AT THIS TIME.  I will monitor next week.  Slow-moving summer storms can produce torrential downpours that can briefly flood ditches and roadways.

4. Will non-thunderstorm winds top 40 mph?  NO.

5. Will temperatures rise above 90 degrees?  YES.   Temperatures are anticipated to be above 90 degrees Thursday through Sunday.   Clouds could keep temperatures a few degrees cooler on Monday and Tuesday.

6. Will temperatures rise above 100 degrees?  NO.

7. Will the heat index (feels like) rise above 100 degrees? POSSIBLE.    That is possible on Saturday and Sunday. Quite a bit of data keeps the heat index temperature just below 100 degrees.

8. Will the heat index rise above 115 degrees? NO.

Forecast discussion.

  •   Nice weather today and tomorrow.
  •   Calm weather through Saturday.
  •   Hot Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
  •   Watching another slow-moving cold front next week.  That will bring increasing clouds and at least scattered thunderstorms.
  •   Where will the front stall?

.

Good day, everyone.

Not much change from 24 hours ago.

When you step outside this morning, you will notice that it is a bit nicer.  A bit less muggy.  A bit cooler in some counties.  Not too bad for early July.  We earned it after last week’s muggy/hot weather.

Calm weather is anticipated tonight through Saturday night.

Temperatures today through tomorrow will be warm, but not as hot as last week.  It will be somewhat humid, but not as humid as last week.  That is the good news.

Temperatures will mostly range from 85 to 90 degrees today through Thursday.

Temperatures are expected to rise by Friday through Sunday, returning to the nineties.  Heat index values will rise into the 96- to 102-degree range.  It will become hot and somewhat muggy again.

A cold front is expected to push into the region by early next week.  The front has slowed by about 12 hours.   I am monitoring trends.

This would push the thunderstorm chances deeper into Sunday and Monday vs earlier.  For now, I have thunderstorm chances increasing on Sunday and lingering through the middle of next week (perhaps beyond if the front stalls).

For now, if you have outdoor plans on Sunday through Wednesday, then I would not change them.  Monitor updated forecasts.  Have a plan B, like always.

The slow-moving cold front will bring a return to the daily shower and thunderstorm chances.  At this time, questions remain regarding the strength of the front and its timing.

The front may stall in the region.  If that happens, then we will have daily chances of showers and thunderstorms into much of next week.  Since this is in the long range, there remain questions about where it stalls.  The placement will be key to thunderstorm chances.

For now, let’s enjoy the calm weather!

Have a great Wednesday!

Fireworks forecast for July 4th.

Friday: A warm but nice evening. No rain concerns.
Friday evening temperatures are expected to range from 84 to 88 degrees.
Dew points will range from 70 to 74 degrees.  Humid.
Relative humidity 58% to 62%.
Mostly clear sky conditions.
Light winds at less than 10 mph.

Saturday evening conditions will be similar, perhaps a few more clouds.
