We are waking up to bitterly cold temperatures.

Use care this morning.  Many roads are covered in ice.  What melted yesterday has refrozen on some roadways.

Some snow flurries are possible, but nothing of significance.

We should see some road improvement today and tomorrow.

I have some great news.  Quiet weather today into early next week.  The weatherman can rest!

It will remain cold today into Saturday morning.

Much warmer air arrives next week.

Let’s look at some numbers.

Forecast discussion.   Active weather.

  •  Bitterly cold weather to continue into Friday night.
  •  Frostbite weather.  Use care.
  •  Slow warming trend Saturday and Sunday.  Quiet weather.
  •  Much warmer early next week!  I can’t rule out some sixties on Tuesday.  That will feel amazing.
  •  Flooding continues in some areas.  Avoid flooded roadways

We still have icy roads this morning.  Use care.

Bitterly cold air will linger into this coming weekend

This will likely be the coldest air of the winter season thus far.

Wind chill temperatures will be even colder.  Well below zero, at times.  Harsh winter weather.

Remember, the body responds to wind chill.  The wind chill is more important than the actual temperatures.  Frostbite is a real concern with this upcoming winter event.

.

We still have some areas with flooded roadways.  Avoid those roads, please.

The good news is that I do not have any significant precipitation in the forecast through Tuesday.

Some flurries today or snow showers, but nothing of consequence.

Temperatures will slowly warm up this weekend.  Finally, going above freezing.

The great news is that temperatures Monday through Wednesday will likely pop above 50 degrees.  Even above 60 on Tuesday in some counties.  That will feel amazing after this bitterly cold air.

I am monitoring a chance of showers next Wednesday.

.

I am watching a bigger system around the first week of March.  A long way off to know how that event will impact us, if at all.  Monitor updates.

The GFS shows that one.  It keeps showing up on the charts.  Something to monitor.

.

Have a great Thursday, and stay warm.

Make sure you have three to five ways of receiving your severe weather information.

Weather Talk is one of those ways!  Now, I have another product for you and your family.

** NEW SERVICE **  I have partnered with WeatherCall to bring you an added layer of protection.
.
We have a new service to compliment your www.weathertalk.com subscription.  This does NOT replace www.weathertalk.com It is simply another tool for you to receive severe weather information.
.
I use it myself. I encourage everyone to have 3 to 5 ways of receiving their severe weather information. All sources can fail and the more sources you have, the better prepared you will be in the event of severe weather warnings.
.
WeatherCall will call your cell phone or home number if your home is in a tornado or severe thunderstorm warning.  It only calls you if your home is inside the warning box/polygon. If you are outside the warning box/polygon it will not disturb you.
Here is a video with more information and a demonstration of how it works.
