Fire Weather Discussion
Cooler temperatures can be expected today underneath high pressure at the surface. Additionally, much drier air has worked its way into the region with afternoon relative humidity values expected to drop into 30 to 50 % range. Gradually increasing humidity and temperatures can then be expected through the end of the week into the weekend. Light winds and poor dispersion can be expected through Thursday.
A Haines Index of 6 means a high potential for an existing fire to become large or exhibit erratic fire behavior, 5 means medium potential, 4 means low potential, and anything less than 4 means very low potential.

Beau’s Forecast Discussion
Some nice weather ahead of us.
A cold front passed through the region last night. There were two or three small showers over our eastern counties yesterday evening. Most of the region remained dry.
The front has moved off to the east.
We are left with cool temperatures this morning. Low to middle 40s north and in the 40s and 50s everywhere else.
Here was the 6 am temperature map.
There will be a few high clouds today, but otherwise mostly sunny weather into the weekend.
I don’t have any weather concerns through the weekend.
It will be warm Friday through Sunday. Some locations will reach into the lower 80s.
A cold front passes through the region Sunday night. This will bring cooler air by early next week. As a matter of fact, some of the data shows highs only in the 60s Monday and Tuesday. Autumn air.
No frost in the forecast, yet. Still a bit early for that.
I continue to monitor the Gulf of Mexico and southeast United States for tropical development later this week, this weekend, and into next week.
For now, the National Hurricane Center has a 40% chance of tropical development over the next seven days.
Confidence in a system forming is low.
Confidence is higher that there will be unsettled weather in the Gulf of Mexico over the coming seven days. Perhaps longer.
That means showers and thunderstorms.
If you have travel plans to the Gulf of Mexico or the southeast United States, then monitor updated forecast. At the very least, some areas could experience clouds and precipitation. Worse case, a tropical system forms and then we will need to track it as it moved northeast and east. Some data cuts off a low pressure center in the Gulf of Mexico. That would mean a slow moving system.

Here is the rainfall outlook. Large rain totals in the Gulf. Whether those move ashore is the question for those heading south on vacation.
